Interagency Coordination
Today's environment of multi-faceted global challenges requires development, diplomatic, and military professionals to be able to work in an interagency setting. The U.S. military is taking an increasing role in areas that have been traditionally reserved for civilian agencies and NGOs. While the military has significant resources at its disposal and has gained experience working to rebuild countries, it can benefit from the development expertise of civilian agencies. Likewise, development professionals can benefit from the increased knowledge and competency of military counterparts in stability operations. Development Transformations offers training and advising programs in interagency coordination that can be provided in conjunction with joint post-conflict stabilization programming.
Civilian-Military Cooperation
Development Transformations personnel include professionals with both development and military experience, providing a thorough understanding of the organizational cultures unique to each sector. For the military, DT provides strategic advice on how to better engage civilian populations and NGOs, analyze civil information, and conduct effective population-centric operations. For civilian agencies and NGOs, DT provides services that include how to effectively participate in military planning and operations, conduct programming in areas where security forces are operating, and liaise/coordinate with the military while preserving mission principles.
DT's specific training programs with military and civilian sectors cover a range of topics including: U.S. foreign policy objectives in specific geographical regions, democracy promotion, humanitarian assistance, principles of development, working in a diplomatic community, civil society, media training, and conflict resolution. DT has partnered with Department of State, U.S. Agency for International Development, U.S. Institute of Peace, NGOs, academic institutions, and others to design and deliver up-to-date and tailored instruction. Our services can be designed as pre-deployment training for military and civilians or as professional development programs.
